A Few of My Favorite Things

February 28, 2018

My daughter and I attended the traveling reproduction of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s, The Sound of Music on Sunday evening.  The show was magnificent! The sets were grand, even overwhelming at times and the beauty in the actions of the cast against the mighty, and impressiveness in their voices was breathtaking.  Maria’s rendition of  “The Hills Are Alive” was divine, Mother Abbess had a phenomenal voice and The Von Trapp Children were everything that they each needed to be.  Even tiny, little Gretel was beautifully cast and added notable charm.

While my daughter could not wait to hear “The Hills Are Alive”, “Maria”, “Do-Re-Mi”, and  “I Have Confidence”, the song I so enjoy time after time is always “My Favorite Things” —

Raindrops on roses

And whiskers on kittens

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things

Some of my favorite things–

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Ice Cream

Watching Snow Flakes Fall

Listening to Spring Rain

Watching for the ducks to wander into our neighborhood during the early Spring

Diet Coke with fresh lemon

Bloom Perfume by Ralph Lauren

My daughter at 3 yrs, singing “Tommorrow” at the top of a escalator in a busy mall in KC

My son rhyming Oggie with Mommie and then putting it into a song to the tune of “Rubber Ducky Your the One”

Holding my husbands hand

My dad telling me,  “I got all the time in the world for you”

My Great Danes passion and dedication to me

So —————————–

When the dog bites

When the bee stings

When I’m feeling sad

I simply remember my favorite things

And then I don’t feel so bad
