Physical Therapists are SUPERHEROES!!

I must admit the first time my Neurologist wanted to send me to a PHYSICAL THERAPIST I was leary, unsure 😐 and not completely excited. I learned quickly that going to PT is a opportunity!

Each time I have had to go, whether requested from Neurologists, Urologist or GP, I have learned life altering strategies and made genuine new friends.  I still talk to my female PT’s often and daily use the strategies they taught me.

So what can I share that might help others?

➡️ Take time to strengthen your CORE BODY,  you will need those muscles to support you as you age and keep you ambulatory.

➡️ Take time to strengthen your NECK MUSCLES. Did you know your head is the approx weight of a bowling ball??   As you age if your neck muscles aren’t strong your neck will droop making it harder and harder to support your head.

➡️ Don’t allow your SHOULDERS TO CREEP INWARDS.  When we sit at computers or on our phones we tend to curve our upper body inward.

➡️ Be conscious of HOLDING YOUR HEAD & SPINE UPWARD—don’t slouch!!

➡️ A good empty is 15-30 cc’s (you can judge your elimination by counting how many seconds you are pee’ing).  Through the course of a day 800-2000 cc’s is average.  (add a zero to your total to see how your doing or spend a dollar and buy    a URINE ELIMINATION 🎩)

➡️ Going potty 6-8 times a day is normal for most people.  At my age, I should be able to hold urine for 2-4 hours before eliminating again. (It’s ok to discipline your body to hold urine within those guidelines)

➡️ BE AWARE OF STRESS and work to release it.

➡️ DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!
